Norwich Corridor Streetscape Plan, Norwich Vermont
Through the years, the town of Norwich has seen its main street erode from a quiet local street to a busy town highway. This corridor not only serves as the main street of Norwich, but also connects two closely intertwined town centers, and is a segment of the nationally prominent Appalachian Trail. Main Street accommodates the Town Hall, post office, a thriving complement of retail businesses and an elementary school, all of which generate pedestrian, bicycle and vehicular traffic. Despite these considerations, accommodation for pedestrians and bicyclists in this area was very poor. ORW prepared streetscape documents to improve the corridor to provide continuous bike lanes, sidewalks and pedestrian crossings along Main Street.
