Roger H. Perry Hall at Champlain College, Burlington Vermont

Perry Hall, a stately brick Italianate home in Burlington’s ‘Hill’ neighborhood has been renovated and expanded to become Champlain College’s Admissions Office and Welcome Center — the new public face of the College.  The site includes a generous back lawn that has been transformed into a major open space resource for the College and dedicated for public access and use for the larger neighborhood as well.

The site is a showcase of ‘green’ site design features including a created stormwater wetland that captures storm surges before they enter the City system; porous concrete walkways; native plant materials; rain garden bio-treatment swales adjacent to parking areas; green roof; and energy efficient LED lighting.  The landscape also provides references to the cultural heritage of the site through garden design and reused materials.  LEED Platinum certification is pending.  Perry Hall was awarded a Vermont Public Space Award (2011), and the Hertzel N. Pasackow Award by the Burlignton Business Association (2011).
